About
I'm Lena Duarte, and Casa Mafalda is my corner of the internet for everything I love about having people over. The name belongs to my grandmother Mafalda, who ran the most generous table I have ever sat at and never once seemed to break a sweat doing it. Almost everything I know about hosting, I learned in her kitchen.
I am not a chef, and I do not have a grand dining room. I cook in a normal kitchen, for friends and family, on ordinary weekends. What I care about is the feeling of a full, happy table, the kind where people stay far longer than they meant to and leave a little lighter than they arrived.
This blog is where I write it all down. How to plan so you can relax, how to set a table that feels like a welcome, how to feed everyone at once, and how to let a meal run long and slow. No fuss, and no rules you have to follow, just the small, generous habits that turn a meal into a gathering. I am so glad you pulled up a chair.
